Procedural Steps for redressal of non-availability / non- availability of appropriate information

In the event of, the rejection of request for information or non-availability of appropriate information from the Public Information Officer or Assistant Public Information Officer, following steps may be borne in mind / adhered to:-

  • Information should be made available to the applicant as early as possible but within the maximum period of 30 days.
  • If applicant is not satisfied with the information provided he can prefer an appeal to the appellate authority within 30 days of receipt of the rejection. The final appellate authority unless informed otherwise is the Principal Officer.
  • If there are reservations about the decision of the appellate authority as well, then the matter need be referred to the Chief Surveyor with the GOI on matters pertaining to Engineering Surveys/Examinations/Institutions; the Nautical Advisor to the GOI on matters pertaining to Nautical Surveys/Examinations/Institutions and, to the Deputy Chief Ship Surveyor on matters pertaining to Naval Architecture/Tonnage etc. at the Directorate General of Shipping, Jahaz Bhavan, Mumbai for further necessary clarification, provided the office of the Directorate General of Shipping has no objection in this regard.
