4(1)(b) xv Facilities for obtaining Information

  • Presently reading room or library is not available to the public due to paucity of space.
  • Public can obtain information through website or through correspondence.
  • Public may post their queries on the MMD website mmd.gov.in and or in Citizen Interface.
  • The queries are responded to on the website itself, as far as practicable.

Citizen charter (Under Revision)

  • All mail received to be put up to PO on same day or latest by next working day. All faxes, email etc brought to the notice of PO on same day if received during office hours others on next working day. All  PUCs to be put up on file within two working days to concerned person.
  • Surveyor allotment will be done by PO/HO on same day if received prior 10 am or by next working day. Survey request valid for only seven days. If unable to do same may be resubmitted.
  • Ships certificates will be issued within three working days after receipt of report from IRS and in two working days if report submitted by MMD surveyor.
  • Detention and release letters of ships issued same day. Ship will be inspected for verifying rectification of deficiencies at the earliest latest by next day. In case re inspection is further required then mutually convenient date will be fixed by concerned surveyor.
  • Age dispensation disposed off  on next working day.
  • PI will be completed in three months time.
  • Institutes will be inspected within one month of receipt of instruction by DGS and report forwarded within three working days.
  • Application for name, call sign etc disposed off within two working days. Registration, creation or discharge of mortgage will be done within seven working days. NEC, CLC, SMD, Change of command etc will be done in two working days.
  • Periodical reports sent as and when required within due date.
  • All PUCs will be replied within one month.
  • Grievances will be attended as quickly as possible and maximum permissible period is one month. If delay is expected interim reply may be given explaining the reasons.
  • Every effort will be made by all concerned to avoid undue delay in processing various requests.
